The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has relaxed its norms to award extra marks to students excelling in drawing as a subject.
Now, students directly appearing for the intermediate drawing exam and securing grades will also be considered for the scheme.
As per the examination rules, students appear for the elementary exam first and in the following year, they can appear for the intermediate exam.
However, there is a provision in the rules that students can directly appear for the intermediate exam, a higher level, if they are confident. The state board did not consider students who directly appeared for the intermediate examination and had issued a notification that the students must pass the elementary exam first and the intermediate exam later to avail the extra marks. This was opposed by several schools and students.
The state board said the rule is applicable only for the 2018-19 academic year and said the condition to clear both elementary and intermediate exams will be applicable from 2019-20.
