CBSE Class 12 Business Studies exam tricky: Complete paper analysis by subject experts, students

CBSE class 12 Business Studies paper is underway throughout the country. After consecutive easy papers, business studies paper was moderate. Students claimed that some questions were tricky but overall the paper was scoring.
Subject teachers said nearly 10-15 per cent of the questions were a bit difficult — referring to HOTS, the rest was well-balanced paper. Teachers said the language in the paper this year was clearer as compared to last few years. For example, the case studies were confusing for teachers and students, but this time there was a clarity which made the paper student friendly.

" The Class XII Business Studies paper for the year 2017-18 seemed to be balanced. Difficulty level of the paper was average. Paper was mainly based on NCERT textbook. 3 marks questions were direct from the book, whereas rest 48 marks paper was based on application-based case studies. Few case studies were lengthy. Overall paper was good and thorough knowledge of textbook and in-depth understanding will definitely help students to score high marks. It will be easy to score good marks but definitely scoring 100 marks maybe a little challenging because of case study based questions, which required critical and analytical thinking," said Charu Malhotra, PGT Business studies, Mount Abu Public School, Delhi.

"The paper was good but few case studies were tricky and lengthy,"said Saumya Jain, a Class 12 Commerce student from Mount Abu School.

"The paper was easy and balanced. It was totally based on NCERT textbook," said another student Mallika Anand.

Anshita, another student who appeared in the exam today said, "Paper was easy to score well. Completed well on time."

Neha Goel, PGT Business Studies, Evergreen Senior Secondary School, Vasundhara Enclave, said, “The paper was conceptual and well balanced. Case studies were a bit long and needed time to read and comprehend. However, it is expected that the students will be able to identify these case studies as they contain certain conceptual hints and key words, which directly hit the right answer. Apart from case studies questions were direct and simple."
