Most of the CBSE schools in the city recorded a 100% pass on Sunday after the Class XII exam results were declared on Sunday, with many students from science, commerce and Arts streamscoring distinction. Thiruvananthapuram region, of which Kochi is a part, had the highest pass percentage in the country.
School authorities said that many of their students got distinction in all subjects and even they were happy with the number of students who scored A1 in all subjects. "Compared to the previous year, we have a better result this time. Students worked hard and it showed in the results," said Mala B Menon, principal, Cochin Refineries School. Of the 98 students who appeared in the exam, 77 secured distinction. In science stream, the top score was 486 and for commerce it was 487.
At Vidyodaya School, 135 appeared for Class XII exams and 112 secured distinction. The number of students with A1 in all subjects was 16. While at Global Public School, 87 students appeared for the exam, 62 got distinction. In Choice School, of the 168 students who appeared, 152 students (90%) secured distinction.
Of the 142 students who appeared from Rajagiri Public School, 137 scored above 75% and 35 students scored A1 in all subjects. The highest score in science stream was 97.2% and for commerce it was 97.4%. On the other hand, of the 150 students who appeared for board exams from Assisi Vidyaniketan in Kakkanad, 117 scored distinction. Also, 13 students had A1 grade. While the highest score in science was 97.2%, in commerce it was 94.8% and 96.25% for humanities.
"We had amazing results this time, with 64% of our students scoring distinction. Six students have secured 100% in computer science," said Janitha Cherian, principal, Nava Nirman Public School.
The seven Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan schools in the district had a 100% pass percentage. Of the 917 students who appeared from Bhavans schools, 671 got distinction. 98 students had A1 in all subjects. Bhavans Varuna Vidyalaya performed exceptionally well, what with 79 of the 93 students securing distinctions. "Overall, the performance of our schools is good and we are happy with the result," said E Ramankutty, director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra.
"We are having a 100% pass percentage for the 29th year in succession. Of the 147 students who wrote the exams, 100 scored distinction," said TocH Public School acting principal Molly Mathew.
